Binding sound with slight lean; some cracks/splits at gutters but all pages secure. Charcoal end papers; pages lightly tanned; a few fox spots. Volume 1 has 468 pages, Volume II has 407 pages including Index plus 24 pages of publisher’s ads; a few pencil notes on rear end paper. Volume I deals with The Natural History of Morals, The Pagan Empire, The Conversion of Rome; Volume II deals with From Constantine to Charlemagne and The Position of Women.
