Very good; bit of cover wear, gilt on front bright, spine gilt just a bit dulled; wear at lower spine end with a bit of fraying; top edge gilt; binding sound but cracked between verso of half-title page and verso of frontispiece with all pages secure. Prior owner’s name on front paste down, gift notation on front end paper, faded lettering at upper rear paste-down; remainder of interior clean and unmarked with lightly tanned pages. Small faded water mark on fore-edges of pages 397 onward; occasional age spotting and bit of off-setting. Illustrated with 6 black and white plates including frontispiece.
