Readers Union, London, 1940.  Hard cover, 333 pages including Index and map.  Tan cloth with edge, corner and spine end wear; boards foxed with some soil spots.  Binding a bit loose but all pages secure.  Interior clean and unmarked with lightly tanned pages, occasional age spot/smudge; monochrome and colour plates; 2 black & white maps with one being a fold-out.  ‘At the end of July 1936 Mr. Gould left Gangtok for Lhasa, and with him went Mr. Spencer Chapman as his Private Secretary.  They remained in Lhasa until 17^th February 1937, and it of these months that Mr. Chapman now gives us his own story. … His impressions of Lhasa should, indeed, be interesting.’ (from Introduction)
