MOLLY’S CHANCE

Thomas Nelson and Sons, London, No date, Premier Series.  Very good; red cloth over boards, dulled gilt lettering on spine.  Binding tight, spine ends lightly bumped.  Dust jacket with price intact shows edge wear, short tears and very small losses; age-toning and a bit of foxing.  Some off-setting to end-papers.  Prize inscription dated 1950 on front fly; remainder of interior clean and unmarked.  Black & white frontispiece and illustrations by J. Ainslie and E. Brier.  Very gently read and well cared for.  ‘It was thanks to Aunt Prudence that Molly Halfpenny was able to go to Chedda House School – but her aunt’s generosity was tempered with a veto on all games.  A great sigh went up from the Chedda House Eleven when they discovered that Molly, a born cricketer, was forbidden to play; that is, until Cousin Claude took the matter up!  Molly’s first term ended with the sensational match against Kingsclare, but from her first day and the shattering trip in the tradesman’s van there was never a dull moment!’ (from front flap)
