ELPIS ISRAEL (The Hope of Israel)

The Maran-Atha Press, London, no date, but title page states ‘Reproduced from an Early Copy known as the “Robert Roberts” Edition by Photographic Process’.  Internet article references the 1858 edition with excerpts appearing on appropriate corresponding pages in this volume.  Hard cover, 410 pages followed by a 7 page Index.  Brown cloth over boards showing heavy edge and cover wear and some rubs; boards exposed at corners, some small losses to cloth along edges.  Spine covered with maroon tape extending an inch onto front and rear boards and onto front and rear paste-downs.  Front hinge cracked; portrait frontis of John Thomas.  Gift inscription dated 1929 on FEP.  Interior pages are tanned; underlines – some sections heavily, and some margin notes.  Binding cracked at last page of Index.  All pages are secure.  Theological book based on a series of lectures given by Thomas in 1848; Thomas was the founder of the Christadelphians.  ‘Being an Exposition of the Kingdom of God, With Reference to the Time of the End, And of the Age to Come’ (from title page)
