J. M. Dent, Toronto, 1929, appears 1st.  Hard cover, 158 pages.  Corners worn with a bit of board exposed and fraying; spine ends worn with small losses to cloth and fraying, wear along spine edges with small loss to cloth along front edge; a few spots/stains on boards.  Binding cracked in spots with all pages secure.  Small stamp at top corner of front paste-down; remainder of interior clean and unmarked.  Black & white illustrations plus colour plates by M. J. Hilton.  ‘It is generally admitted that geology is the proper background for the study of both geography and history.  But geology is a difficult subject … chiefly because of the long words in which they are usually expressed. … In this book an attempt has been made to make the story readable by omitting all non-essentials. … Every idea, every sentence, almost every word in the book was arranged in the Grade III classroom of the Calgary Practice School.  Every exercise in it has been worked out by the busy heads and hands of the children of that class.’ (from Preface)
