Nathan Simon, New York, no date but believe circa 1900.  Hard cover, with Dombey and Son being chapters 48 to 62 containing pages 681 to 898, and Oliver Twist being chapters 1 to 53 containing pages 1 to 415.  Purple cloth over boards with chipped paper label on spine; edge, cover, corner and spine end wear, bit of board exposed at lower front corner and lower front edge, small tears to cloth and small losses at spine ends; some spots, fading and mottling to cloth.  Binding with headbands cracked at front and rear endpapers, all pages secure; top edge gilt, fore and bottom edges untrimmed (some pages have not been opened).  Old water mark at fore to bottom edges, not affecting readability; occasional age spot.  Illustrations by “Phiz” (H. K. Browne) and George Cruikshank; all illustrations present with printed tissue guards intact.  One of the first thousand impressions from a new set of plates, with publisher’s facsimile signature.
