This short story is considered an important work of early feminist literature, dealing with male attitudes towards women in the 19th century. The narrator’s physician husband feels his wife has a temporary nervous disorder following the birth of their child and she is pretty much confined to the bedroom. With next to no stimulation, she becomes fixated with the yellow wallpaper and we follow her descent into madness.
