Corners show some wear with tiny bits of board visible; spine ends worn with some splits to cloth and very small losses, tiny loss on rear spine edge, less than 1 1/2cm tear to cloth at top rear spine edge, bit of fraying. Some discolouration to boards and a few small stains; a few small stains/spots on lower fore-edge page block and inside edge of front board. Title page in black and red type. Binding sound with headbands; all pages secure. Interior pages unmarked, occasional soil spot, occasional fox spot; a few pages remain uncut; old drop(?) mark in blank space on p. 31 of Volume II, straightened corner bend. Tears to front and rear paste-downs/end papers at gutters; ‘Peter Paul Book Co., Buffalo, -N.Y.’ label affixed at lower front paste-down. All illustrations are full page in black and white with tissue guards intact; tissue guards labeled in red type.
