Description

S. W. Partridge & Co., London.  No date, but short Christmas inscription dated 1905.  Hard cover, 96 pages, plus 24 pages of publisher’s ads.  Blue cloth over boards, gilt on spine is a bit faded, but gilt lettering and colourful illustrations on front board are still bright.  Boards show some edge and cover wear, a few rubs and small stains; binding cracked in spots with all pages secure.  Rear end paper removed, small red drop on rear paste-down.  Edge tears to the fore-edges of some pages, all in the margins and not extending into any text; short tear at bottom of contents page near gutter; one straightened dog-ear with a short tear at top edge.  Other than gift inscription, all pages clean and unmarked, but quite tanned.  Six full-page black & white illustrations including frontis.  Juvenile fiction about a farmer in South Africa and deals with Afrikaner-English relations.
