Calvin McQuesten (of Whitehern, Hamilton, Ontario); full-page illustrations by Charles W. Jefferys.  Edited with an Introduction by Lorne Pierce.  Parallel text by Malcolm G. Parks.  ‘C. W. Jefferys made a series of 102 drawings forty years ago for the collected works of Thomas Chandler Haliburton in twelve volumes.  This subscription set never appeared.  The drawings, together with descriptive text, are here made available – the best of Sam Slick together with some of Jefferys’ best work.’ (from front flap)
