Ryerson, Toronto, December 1956, 2nd pr.  Hard cover, 205 pages.  Very good; mauve cloth with gilt lettering on front and spine; a few spots on front board, spine ends lightly bumped, corners lightly bumped with a touch of fraying; binding sound with headbands; touch of soil at bottom fore-edge corner.  Dust jacket has a few edge tears and small sections of biopredation at lower inner folds; spine slightly darkened; bit of age-toning, age spots visible on verso, and a few spots of soil.  Interior clean and unmarked except for gift inscription on FEP from Rev. Calvin McQuesten (of Whitehern, Hamilton, Ontario); full-page illustrations by Charles W. Jefferys.  Edited with an Introduction by Lorne Pierce.  Parallel text by Malcolm G. Parks.  ‘C. W. Jefferys made a series of 102 drawings forty years ago for the collected works of Thomas Chandler Haliburton in twelve volumes.  This subscription set never appeared.  The drawings, together with descriptive text, are here made available – the best of Sam Slick together with some of Jefferys’ best work.’ (from front flap)
