Description

Hunter, Rose & Company, Toronto, 1886, 1st.  Hard cover, 205 pages.  Good for age; blue cloth with gilt lettering and decoration on front and spine; front and rear beveled boards with black ruling on front.  Edge, corner and spine wear with some board exposed along edges and corners, small losses at spine ends; some scrapes, rubs and small stains.  Heavy charcoal endpapers and paste-downs.  Picture of author glued to verso of front end paper; INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR on fly ‘To Neil M. Livingstone, Esq. with the kindest regards of his old friend, The Author, Windsor, Ont., 15 Apr 1886’.  Binding cracked at title page, but all pages secure.  Newspaper article ‘The Centenary of Charles Mair (By Fred Williams) glued on verso of rear EP.  Some pencil underlines and marginalia in text; remainder of interior clean and unmarked.  Tecumseh was a legendary Shawnee leader who organized a confederacy during the 1700s in Ohio, and was allied with Great Britain during the War of 1812.  The play deals with his participation with General Brock in the capturing of Fort Detroit up to his death at the battle of Moravian Town in 1813.
